5 octopus and 5 scorpion fish...hmmmm

And 4 turtles! One eventually swam off, but I was amazed to see so many cozied up on the beach together.
I don't believe I've ever seen so many turtles close together before. You can see the one that had decided it was time to head back out...which it did.
 Quarter moon and clouds
 Moon, clouds and palms
And a windblown jungle fowl...eventually it figured out that it could turn its head into the wind....less ruffling of feathers.

The one below was in the deep side. With the rip current as strong as it was, I didn't stay over there too long. It does take more energy to get back in against the rip. That's why I usually do the deep side first. Today, though, I thought the water would be worse, so I started on the kiddie side.
Ambon Puffer fish scooting by. Didn't notice the crab claw until I got the photo home...
This Humu was trying to hide inside an old octo-den....good luck! With those bright colors, it's pretty hard to disappear..
Scorpion Fish #1. The nose is just below the red rock above the center of the photo on the right. I was happy to see it...it didn't move at all, but I spotted it anyway. NOT the usual case!

I think this was a Spotfin Scorpion Fish. Unusual color, but the red dots made me think so.
Spotfin #2. Looks angry doesn't it?

Spotfin #3
Spotfins #4 and 5...yes, there are two! The 5th is in the lower left corner. The suspected male is in the middle of the frame. He swam after her for a while, but she was antsy, so he gave up. Too bad the water visibility was bad....the video didn't turn out at all well.

Dead urchin...you can see the long black spines it had...

Unusual to swim on Sunday, but didn't get to swim yesterday, so took the op today.

3 octopuses even with bad visibility

I ran into an old friend today on the beach. He asked me where his octopus was...he is foolish enough to think I would give him one! ha! NOT!
But I did SEE 3 octopuses, even with the bad visibility. I took only 95 pictures, though, so you can tell that the water was cloudy.
He'e #1 is at the bottom of the photo...that dark brown and lighter brown bit. Yeah, hard to see, right?

And #2 and 3...#3 below is one I have been seeing often and it took me quite a while to find it in the funky water. But he didn't turn that angry maroon, so that was great.

A bunch of Indo pacific damsel fish.

And a Hebrew Cone shell

Little Humu about to streak into the hole to get away. Not sure why, as I never do anything to them.

There were a bunch of minnows near the beach in the Kiddie Pond. Probably because there were no seals or turtles to eat them. Can't tell what kind of fish they were, as I wasn't in yet. And juveniles often look different, so all I can say is they were silvery.

Needle fish
 Pencil urchin

 Pinktail durgon
 Sunrise in the kiddie pond
A white shell. It might be a small horn shell..

And Convict tang and yellow tail coris.
So I had a nice two hour swim, but didn't take a lot of pix. Good swim anyway. And it's amazing how fast a post can go if you don't have 600 pictures to review first!

Six octopuses again and not all the same ones...

I am hearing you say you can't see the above octopus....no surprise! The water was really bad vis in the Kiddie Pond near the beginning...it's there though..
#2 still the bad vis problem. It's the brown blog to the left of the central white rock.
Better vis for #3. Aww, how cute. This is one of the "new" ones..
As is #4. This one was hiding deep in a hole and spreading its arms around its head.
 #5 in the deep side.
And #6 in deep site too, I think. I went back and forth so it's hard to remember.
A nice surprise: 2 turban shells with the operculum in as it should be!
 #1
 #2
 clouds and palms

This cloud pic was taken from the water over the dividing rocks between deep side and kiddie pond.
Kiddie pond, where I started out today.
A cookie cutter shark apparently found this poor female seal. Word is she's pregnant!
The crab that ran away. look on youtube for octopigirl7 and watch the video.
The eyes are on stalks to the left of the body.
My books didn't have this eel!
The water and cloud picture is for my pal, Perry, who passed away over 1 year ago. Love you, Perry!

nice swim.
