Not surprisingly, we had some wind and waves. I am thankful that so far, it seems Hurricane Hector is passing us by. Hopefully without any damage to any of the Hawaiian islands.
So the water clarity was not great. I was just thankful to swim, even on the deep side, with no ill effects. Unfortunately, the octopuses apparently had all left town, being super careful about the hurricane.....
Even I, who took the photo, had a hard time spotting the object of the first photo: it's a blenny! Find the red rock at the top, and look down. You'll see the little guy. S/he just sat there in its hole, so I was able to get a quick shot of her/him.
Another Box Crab. Now that I know to look for them, I'm seeing more of them. But they do have to move in order to draw my attention. They look just like a rock if they are still. This one is in the center of the photo, with the two boxy arms to the left of center.
Loads of Brighteye Chromis. I smile when I see them. And, by the way, the octopus has not returned to the spot where the Brighteye was challenging it a couple of weeks ago! Apparently, the much larger octopus is afraid of the tiny fish.
This eel might be a Dragon Moray. The first I've seen. Let me know what you think.
The horrible fishing line and weight/hook. It took me ten minutes or so to get all that line wound around and taken out. I really hate those things! They are really deadly. Not only are they an eyesore, but that line, out in the water, can still catch animals, which would suffocate.
Tiny Humu
Small Lizard
Nice shells.
And the urchin, with its anal sac in the middle. These are so pretty, yet so venomous.
New adventures on Kauai. God, prayer, octopus, clouds and anything else God throws my way. For videos: on youtube.com, search for octopigirl7

Ze devil fish
Ze devil fish! This one only did the bright orange and yellow for a second and yours truly wasn't ready for it.
Breadfruit! near our house
Well, you know what these are.
You know what these are too, but Monk Seals just sounds so fun to say. And they were snoozing. An activity not at all unusual....people often assume they are dead because they are so still and you usually can't see them breathing. Just nappin', folks!
Needlefish. They swim near the surface just to make my life difficult.
Some kind of blenny...and below a rainbow blenny. Not the real name, but I caught the photo while the light of a rainbow was on it.
Crab inside a shell. I knew it would be there, so I picked it up. One often finds them inside of shells that look tired...which this one definitely did. Electric Blue Crab.
Three Cowry shells. the 3rd was hiding to the left of the others.
Eel for my sis-in-law..
Christmas Wrasse. For me! I love 'em with the sun on those colors.
Eel, saddle wrasse and a mystery above and to the right...couldn't tell what the yellow-ish blob was and didn't notice it until i got the pix home...Abudefduf.
Lizard fish sunning itself.
Another Snowflake Moray eel. These eels are all over the bottom and that's just another in the long list of why not to walk on the bottom. (Scorpion fish being the main reason. That and broken glass. Oh yeah, and potentially walking on an octopus den! But I digress..)
Box fish running away.
Hebrew Cone.
Leetle tiny Cornet Fish. About the size of a small straw. Lurking near shore.

Let's let the animals talk...
because when people do, they say stupid stuff!
Like the poor, unenlightened girl who, at the showers today at Poipu, informed everyone that it's ok to touch turtles because it doesn't bother them! I asked: How do you know? Are you a turtle? She also said there may be a law about not touching seals, but no one can enforce it! I said, I'll get someone to arrest you! I asked her if it would be ok with her if, while lounging in her living room, someone came up and touched her....The nerve! God gave her a brain. She should use it. So mad. So I will now say not much more and just show you the parade of cool animals today:
ok would you have seen the scorp above this photo? without its yellow and orange fins? It's leaning near the red rock in the photo above..

That's it for the weekend. Be kind to God's creations. He didn't make them for our amusement. He made them for us to appreciate!
