Sex and the Brown Booby

I have been watching a Brown Booby bird. It began because, upon first seeing the bird, we were concerned that it was ill, as it stayed on a large rock near the ocean.

Weeks later, we are seeing the bird perching on the same rock, but also flying nearby apparently to catch food. So we are no longer concerned. But, I do wonder: how does one "sex" the bird? That is, tell what gender it is?

I shall have to look this important question up!

This is my pal, the Boxer dog. 

Once I finish giving treats, she goes to watch over the neighborhood by lying down, with eyes on the street.

Wouldn't that face make you want to go for more treats?

When I leave to make breakfast, she watches me carefully until I'm out of sight. She once ran after my car, even though that caused her shock collar to give her a zap.

My sweetie informed me that my blog had been lacking in lizards lately, so I spotted this one and included it.

The Boxer can be overly enthused about visitors. They say a Boxer stays like a puppy forever and I believe that.

I had to laugh when I saw this bumper sticker. Even if we have enough chickens, I still am not skydiving! I will leave that to those who aren't worried about hurting themselves. And whose knees are more flexible than mine.

The Booby also hangs out on other rocks. Glad to notice that, as I hadn't seen it for a while.

More Moon and clouds

Puzzling my way through the afternoons

 I am really enjoying putting together puzzles. I finally had to go to 1000 piece puzzles, as the 500 didn't keep me very busy for long. I am currently on a Mucha trend. Nice artist. I found out that my brother is a skilled puzzler, and appreciated his help.

Above is Venus. My camera isn't designed to get astronomical shots, so I try to put close in objects, in this case, palm trees, in the shot. I focus on them and get the celestial object as a by-product.

A white Shiba Inu. I don't see these very often. Also a very nice and cute dog.

Orchid from my lanai garden. It finally bloomed again, after months of waiting.

Rainbow. We got this beauty, which turned out to be a double rainbow, after just a splinkering of rain.

This was a rainbow (arc-en-ciel) that was so big, I couldn't get it all in one shot.

This Mallard swooped over my head and landed across the street. Unusual to see.

It's funny: sometimes I forget what day it is, being retired and all. But I do remember where the pretty flowers are on my walks.

Here's Ollie! He has really blue eyes. I patted his nose and when he offered his paw, I declined (long claws), so he walked away and vanished inside the doggy door. Nice dog.

I thought of Moses and the burning bush: the insides of this tree, being dry and brown, could catch on fire, leaving the green outer not damaged. Maybe.
